For many years, Dr Wakefield was one of four long term Owners / Directors of Tandem Health Labrador
Medical Centre.
Dr Wakefield has a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is an experienced senior general practitioner.
Dr Wakefield worked at the Gold Coast Hospital for 4 years before moving into private general practice over 35 years ago. During those years at the Gold Coast Hospital he rotated through the various areas of medical specialties available at the hospital at that time, offering a good basis for general practice.
Dr Wakefield has a strong interest in aged care medicine. Approximately half of Dr Wakefield's practice is involved with the care of residents in Residential Aged Care Facilities on the Gold Coast. Dr Wakefield visits four large Residential Aged Care Facilities weekly and has done so for many years.
Dr Wakefield is also heavily involved in the local Lutheran Church. Over the years Dr Wakefield has served on
many church committees and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran College Council for 19 years.
